Prairie Land Insurance Agency's original owner, Ron Lovaas, had started out as a teacher after college and decided he wanted to be part of the insurance industry. Ron built this agency from scratch and was a John Deere® Agent for many years. In 1996, his daughter Linda Kraus joined the agency, and together, they became a fully independent agency representing many different carriers.

In 1997, his grandson James Gayton also joined the agency. Seven years later in 2005, Ron retired, and his daughter Linda and James purchased the agency. Although Ron is retired, he still plays a role within the agency. Ron's wife Dee Lovaas and brother-in-law Rod Nybroten also work part time.
