Our History

Ron Lovaas, Prairie Land Insurance Agency’s original owner, started as a teacher after college and decided he wanted to be part of the insurance industry. Ron built the agency from scratch and was a John Deere Agent for several years until he branched out and felt the independent agency route better served his customers.

In 1996, his daughter Linda Kraus joined the agency. In 1997, his grandson James Gayton joined the agency. In 2005, Ron retired after a long successful career. He knew Linda and James would continue serving his clients with the same honest and ethical standards that he instilled in them. In 2018, James successfully obtained his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) professional designation. Lisa Gayton joined the agency in 2019, keeping with the family-owned tradition that has made Prairie Land Insurance the successful and reliable agency that customers have to come to expect.
